Master thesis title: The origin of Japanese black bears in Abukuma mountains

Description of master thesis project:
In Abukuma mountains which are located in northern Japan, Japanese black bears had not existed since 250 years ago. But recently, some evidences of bears existence have been recorded and the number is increasing. I am going to collect hair samples in Abukuma mountains to analyse mtDNA and estimate the origin of the bears.
